Winter in Skummeslöv

Real winter, the kind with ice-cold starry nights and snow-covered landscapes are rare in southern Sweden these days. We went up to Skummeslövstrand over a weekend in January, when the whole of Sweden had below zero temperatures, and the ground was covered in fresh powdery white. That first evening, when it dropped below 12℃, the power went in the cottage, and Anna and I stood there freezing, changing fuses by iPhone light. We lucked out the day after and had some sunshine. To me, there is something magical with the juxtaposition of the cool tones of the snow and the warm sun.
